This blog will hopefully be a place where I write about things of which, according to some friends of mine, I have intimate knowledge. Not all posts will be for everyone as things may veer off into my favorite distractions, baseball and craft beer.
Mike Lorenz is a guitarist hailing from Bethlehem,PA. A graduate of Moravian College’s music department. Mike keeps a busy schedule as a performer and instructor. He released Of the Woods in 2012, featuring a set of original compositions for jazz quartet and quintet. In 2014, Mike recorded enough new music for 3 future releases, all of which should be released in 2015. I’m Watching My Day Slowly Disappear features an acoustic trio and showcases Mike’s guitar playing in a way not yet captured in recording. The other two releases, both in the fun and exciting organ trio format, feature straight-ahead jazz compositions and quirky cover songs. He currently performs weekly at Tired Hands Brewing Company in Ardmore, PA, recently listed as one of the best 100 breweries in the world.
Mike is an active educator as well. He currently directs the jazz program at the Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts in Bethlehem, PA and has taught as part of Moravian College’s Summer Jazz Camp for several summers.
